Big Brothers offers assistance to families who are at risk of having their electricity is not turned off. Assistance helps keep people safe from freezing temperatures in the winter or extreme heat in the summer and ensures that families can maintain a basic standard of living year-round. Nashville Electric Service contracts with Big Brothers to administer Project Help. Funds are donated by generous NES customers to help our neighbors in need with their electric bills. Priority is given to persons 60 years of age and older, community members with disabilities, and single-parent families.
It all adds up to hope. Please donate to Project Help from the NES Website.
Families get behind on rent or utilities because of a large medical bill, the loss of a job or a cut in hours. Even an unexpected car repair can create a financial crisis for someone struggling to make ends meet.
Big Brothers steps in to provide the helping hand that makes all the difference. Assistance keeps families safe and in their homes. When the past-due amount is paid, the family gets the breathing room to find a long-term solution. Big Brothers can help a household one time per year, and also connects people to other resources to help them get back on their feet.

Holiday Food Box Program
Each December brings our signature Holiday Food Box distribution program. This annual community event, created by two caring businessmen in 1912, now delivers pounds of staple nutritious foods to our neighbors in need. We share basic food items like peanut butter, a canned ham, juice, milk, rice, potatoes, soup, canned vegetables, beans, and cornbread with 1500 households.
Applications for the 2012 Food Box Program will be accepted in November and December.
