Big Brothers offers assistance to families who are at risk of having their electricity is not turned off. Assistance helps keep people safe from freezing temperatures in the winter or extreme heat in the summer and ensures that families can maintain a basic standard of living year-round. Nashville Electric Service contracts with Big Brothers to administer Project Help. Funds are donated by generous NES customers to help our neighbors in need with their electric bills. Priority is given to persons 60 years of age and older, community members with disabilities, and single-parent families.
It all adds up to hope. Please donate to Project Help from the NES Website.
Big Brothers screens applicants for income and residency eligibility and administers payments directly to N.E.S. Big Brothers also makes referrals to other needed services and programs. For example, when an elderly woman received money for her electric bill Big Brothers discovered she had additional needs and arranged services through Meals on Wheels and home health care.
See the Emergency Utility Assistance section below for an application. No applications will be accepted by mail. You must apply in person for assistance.
